When I arrived to Costa Rica my mom was very sick and she didn't speak Spanish. Although my brother and I helped her communicate with the doctor, the medical attention she received wasn't the greatest. At that moment, I decided to study medicine to help my family and other patients in general. What I enjoy the most about ophthalmology and oculoplastic surgery is the combination of the clinical and surgical aspects. I also enjoy treating specific ailments, such as lacrimal or tear gland ailments, because they are usually overlooked by ophthalmologists with other specialties.
